Why choose rigid candle boxes?
Durability meets elegance
Greyboard runs 1.5mm, 2mm or 2.5mm. Two millimetres is the usual spec, since it takes the weight of filled glass without feeling like a shipping carton. A 2.5mm build reads heavier and suits larger jars and sets.
Specs at a glance:
- Board: 1.5mm to 2.5mm greyboard, litho-wrapped
- Wraps: printed art paper, textured stock, linen, leatherette
- Styles: two-piece, magnetic closure, drawer, book-style, sleeve and tray
- Inserts: EVA foam, moulded pulp, flocked or velvet-lined trays
- Minimum order: 100 units, wholesale pricing in bulk
- Lead time: about 10 to 14 business days after proof approval
One thing to plan for. Rigid boxes ship set up, not flat, so they cost more to freight to you than folding cartons. Collapsible magnetic styles ship flat and fold up at your end, worth asking about before a big order.
Impressive design flexibility
Size, shape and proportion are yours. We cut to your candle rather than a stock size, which matters more on rigid than anywhere else: a wrapped box cannot be trimmed afterwards.
Premium customer experience
The lid lift is the moment people photograph. A lined tray, printed inner lid and snug cavity matter more than anything outside.
Eco-friendly options
FSC certified board, recycled greyboard, PCR content, water-based adhesives and soy inks are all available.
Two honest points. Unlaminated paper-wrapped boxes are recyclable in most US programs; foil, lamination and fabric wraps usually are not. And biodegradable is a claim a coated rigid box will not support under the FTC Green Guides, so we do not make it. What rigid has is reuse: customers keep these boxes, which beats most recycling claims.
Custom rigid candle box packaging tailored to your brand
Grain direction decides whether a wrapped box stays flat. Wet adhesive expands the wrap, and when board and wrap grain run against each other the panel bows as it dries. We run the grain along the long dimension so the lid sits square in six months.
Design options include
Window cutouts. Show the candle without opening the box, in PET, RPET or paper film. Keep 10 to 15mm of board around the aperture so the panel stays stiff.
Embossing and debossing. A blind deboss on textured wrap is the most requested finish here, because it works without ink.
Foil stamping. Gold, silver, rose gold or coloured foil on logos and scent names.
Velvet or satin linings. Flocked or fabric-lined trays hold the jar still and change how the open box feels.
Benefits of custom rigid candle boxes
Protection. A fitted cavity holds filled glass off the walls, which is what prevents chips. Board thickness alone will not.
Branding. Matte, gloss and soft-touch lamination, spot UV, foil, interior print. On dark wraps ask for anti-scuff, since these boxes get handled repeatedly on shelf.
Reuse. People keep these boxes for storage, so your name stays on a shelf long after the candle is spent.
Gifting. Retail-ready with no wrapping, which is why rigid candle packaging sells hardest in Q4.
For ecommerce, pair it with a candle shipping box, since a wrapped box scuffs at the corners if it travels alone.
Why choose Multiple Packages?
We work from your candle and artwork to a free dieline and a proof, with colour managed so a reorder matches the original. Low-MOQ ordering starts at 100 units, so a first collection does not need a pallet of packaging. Shipping across the USA is free.
FAQs
What is the minimum order quantity? Low MOQ ordering starts at 100 units. Rigid is hand-assembled, so pricing improves sharply with volume.
How long does production take? About 10 to 14 business days after proof approval, longer than folding cartons because wrapping and set-up are manual. Rush is available on print ready artwork.
Can I order a sample before placing a full order? Yes, and on rigid we recommend it. A sample is the only way to judge board weight, wrap texture and how the lid falls before committing to a run.
What board thickness should I choose? 2mm covers most candles. Step to 2.5mm for large jars and sets, or 1.5mm where a lighter box suits the product.
Do rigid boxes ship flat? Standard ones do not. Collapsible magnetic styles do, which cuts inbound freight considerably.
