Built for protection and reliability
Start with weight, because it decides everything else. An 8 oz jar candle is about a pound with the glass. Three is three pounds, six is closer to seven.
Single wall at 32 ECT handles one or two candles on a normal courier route. Six-packs, pillar sets and anything crossing the country in a mixed pallet want 44 ECT or BC double wall. We would rather quote the heavier grade and be boring about it than replace a run.
The insert does the real work. Die-cut corrugated partitions keep glass off glass. Moulded pulp cradles the shoulder and base, where jars chip. EPE foam goes in for high-value sets. What we talk people out of is loose fill around a rattling jar: air pillows move, and the candle keeps hitting the same corner until something gives.
Where a retailer wants proof rather than a promise, packs can be built and tested to ISTA 3A.
Custom candle shipping boxes that reflect your brand
Plain brown board works, and for some brands it is the right call. But a shipper is the only packaging your online customer definitely sees.
Print digital for short runs and seasonal variants, litho-lamination for photographic quality, flexo when volume is the priority. Add embossing, foil, spot UV. Print the inside of the flaps: it costs little and is the first thing anyone sees.
Designed for functionality
The practical details are the ones your packing bench notices. Roll end tuck top mailers fold shut without tape, saving seconds an order and more than that in tape. Boxes ship flat. Partitions drop in without tools.
One honest note on cost, because the usual advice is wrong here. Candles are dense, so a candle parcel is normally billed on actual weight rather than dimensional weight. Shrinking the box an inch will not cut postage the way it does for bedding. It cuts material, filler and breakages, which is where the money is.
Eco-friendly options available
Recycled content, FSC board and soy inks are all available, and plain corrugated is about the easiest packaging there is to dispose of properly. Old corrugated is recovered at well over 90 percent in the US.
Biodegradable is a word we avoid. It has a specific meaning under the FTC Green Guides that a corrugated shipper will not support, and recyclable is both true and stronger. For a fully paper pack, specify moulded pulp inserts and paper tape.
Why choose Multiple Packages?
- Board and insert specified against your filled weight, not a stock size
- Full customization, inside and out
- Low-MOQ ordering from 100 units, with pricing that scales as you grow
- About 7 to 10 business days after proof approval, rush from 4 to 5 days
- A price match on the same specification
Make your shipping as special as your candles
One last thing, and it has nothing to do with the box. Summer parcels get hot. A delivery van or metal mailbox can pass 120F, and soy wax softens not far above that. Wax that melts and resets looks wrong even though nothing is broken, and no corrugated fixes it. What helps is holding shipments in a heatwave, faster service in July and August, and telling customers when a parcel lands. Worth planning before it costs you a reship.
Send your candle dimensions, how many go in a box, and where they ship. We will quote the board, insert and structure, with a free dieline and a proof before anything runs. Shipping across the USA is free.
FAQs
What is the minimum order for candle shipping boxes? Low MOQ ordering starts at 100 units, which suits a first retail run or a seasonal set.
What board for a three-candle box? Around three pounds filled, so 32 ECT single wall is usually fine. Six-packs and pillar sets want 44 ECT or double wall.
Do smaller boxes save on postage? Rarely, for candles. They are dense enough to be billed on actual weight, so right-sizing saves material and breakage instead.
Will candles survive summer shipping? The box will. The wax may not. Plan for heat with faster service and delivery timing rather than packaging.
Are they recyclable? Plain corrugated, yes, in almost every US program. Lamination and foil reduce that, and we will say which applies to your build.
