Description
Built strong for heavyweight pillar candles
Weight comes first, and pillar candles are heavier than people assume. A 3 by 6 inch pillar is around 1.4 lb of solid wax. A 4 by 9 runs nearer 3.5 lb, more than most 8 oz jar candles of the same height, glass included.
Pillar candle boxes at a glance:
- Sizes: standard US pillars at 3×3, 3×6, 3×9, 4×4, 4×6, 4×9 inches, or cut to yours
- Board: folding boxboard for small pillars, micro-corrugated E flute at 1.5mm for weight or transit, B flute for multi-packs
- Inserts: collar, cross-brace, snug wrap, moulded pulp cradle
- Formats: tuck end, sleeve and tray, two-piece rigid, window box, paper tube
- Minimum order: 100 units, wholesale pricing in bulk
- Lead time: about 7 to 10 business days after proof approval
Tall, slim pillars need most care. A 3 by 9 can crack across the middle if the box lands flat, so the insert supports the length, not just the base.
Two wax notes. Uncoated board draws oil out of scented wax over months in stock and marks both, so use a coated inner face or glassine wrap. And pillars stored on their side in a warm stockroom bow, fatal for a candle sold on standing straight. Keep them upright, with a wax-guard liner in warm climates.
For boutiques, a die-cut window shows colour and texture, as covered on our candle boxes with the window. For ecommerce, a full wall keeps the wax clean and the carton goes inside a candle shipping box.
Branding that puts your candle in the spotlight
Our press holds crisp type, fine rules and deep solids without stencilling. Matte black on natural board is the quiet route, foil on the scent name with a blind-debossed logo the other. Full CMYK with Pantone matching, white ink on kraft, plus panel space for burn instructions, wax type and batch code.
Finishes and formats to match every occasion
Matte feels velvety, gloss adds shelf pop, soft touch reads gift-ready before the box opens. On dark solids ask for anti-scuff: pillar candle packaging gets handled repeatedly and plain matte shows every fingerprint.
Sleeve and tray formats suit wedding and event sets, since you can mix fragrances under one printed sleeve. Ribbon slots, belly bands and metallic seals turn it into a gift.
Worth considering if your pillars are round and your boxes square: a paper tube or hexagonal carton wraps a cylinder with far less empty corner, cutting board per unit and solving the rolling problem in the structure, not the insert.
Smart packing and operational efficiency
Boxes ship flat, assemble fast and stack square. Pre-applied double-sided tape is available for high-volume lines. Moving off generic packaging, we print batch codes on the glue flap, traceable and invisible on shelf, and build dielines to the label sizes you already buy.
A simple, streamlined ordering process
Send your candle measurements and anything unusual: a bevelled base, a rustic finish, multi-wick, a hand-poured top that is not quite flat. We tune the insert and wall strength to it, then proof your artwork before anything runs. Low-MOQ ordering means a 100-unit trial costs a dieline, not a season of stock. Shipping across the USA is free.
FAQs
What is the minimum order quantity? Low MOQ ordering starts at 100 units. Most brands start there on one pillar size, then scale the same dieline once the fit is proven.
How long does production take? About 7 to 10 business days after proof approval for cartons, 10 to 14 for rigid boxes, rush from 4 to 5 days on print ready artwork.
Can I order a sample before placing a full order? Yes, and for pillars we recommend it. A plain structural sample lets you stand your own candle in the box and check the collar before print is committed. Pre-production samples with artwork are available.
What size box does a pillar candle need? We cut to your candle. Standard US pillars run 3 by 3, 3 by 6, 3 by 9, 4 by 4, 4 by 6 and 4 by 9 inches.
Do you supply pillar candle boxes wholesale? Yes. Pricing scales with volume on one dieline, so a trial run and a bulk reorder share the same setup.
