Materials and finishing options
Materials include kraft, SBS paperboard at 14pt to 18pt for slim cartons, and rigid greyboard at 1.2mm to 2mm for premium sets.
Structures cover slide and shell matchbox boxes, the classic pencil format, plus straight and reverse tuck end cartons, hinged flip tops, two piece rigid boxes for gift sets, window boxes, and hanging cartons with a euro slot for stationery aisles.
Finishes such as matte or gloss lamination, soft touch, spot UV, foil stamping and embossing lift the pack toward a premium price point. Die-cut shapes, custom closures and internal paperboard trays are available, and a tray is worth specifying since loose pencils rattle and scuff the print from inside.
Eco-friendly pencil boxes
Schools and brands are moving toward recyclable packaging, and pencil boxes are an easy category to do it in. Ours use recyclable kraft and paperboard, with FSC certified stock, recycled and PCR content, and soy based inks available across formats.
Plain and uncoated pencil boxes are accepted in most US curbside programs. Film lamination, foil and plastic windows usually take a box out of that stream, so if recyclability is the point, an uncoated or varnished finish is the better specification.
